Потом я пришёл домой, поужинал и прочитал письмо, which verb carries the background and which carry the plot, and what decided each choice?All four are perfective, because a story set entirely in the past must keep one consistent aspect throughout.Шёл is imperfective and sets the background scene, while пришёл, поужинал and прочитал are perfective and form the chain of completed events that moves the story forward.

For a five-minute conversation about work and study, why is a plan of five one-minute turns with mixed aspect a better preparation than a list of forty single-sentence questions?Because a turn is a stretch of real talk that must contain several clauses, at least one verb of each aspect and a purpose or concession, whereas single-sentence questions rehearse isolated forms and run out of material long before five minutes.Because five minutes is the maximum length a learner at this level can sustain, so the conversation must be cut short to match the turn count.
