Check understanding, separately from reading

10 questions · 80% to pass · no timer. This longer test revisits both units in the level. These authored questions assess recognition and application of the taught distinctions, not professional qualification. You may review the lessons and retry. Repeat attempts reuse the question bank; a remembered answer is not proof of transfer to a new situation.

Saving a lesson records reading only. Previous lesson completions have not been converted into passing scores. You can continue reading without a pass; the assessment remains unpassed.

Question 1

Fictional Harbor Bakery: “Hi, I’m Melissa with Example Funding, an independent business-financing broker. Are you considering funding for a specific project, or is now not a useful time?” If the owner says yes, ask about the project. If no, thank them and end the pitch.

Owner: “Are you calling from my bank?” Choose your next line.

Question 2

Harbor needs an oven, while fictional Tide Catering needs supplies for a signed event. An oven can produce value over years; event inventory converts when the customer pays. Asking only “How much do you want?” hides that difference.

Owner: “I just need money fast.” What should you ask next?

Question 3

A fictional florist has a busy holiday month but must pay its wholesaler the following week. Another shop has steady sales but large existing daily debits. Neither can safely promise that every incoming dollar is available for a new remittance.

Owner: “Look at the deposits—surely I can afford it?”

Question 4

The shop manager likes a quote but the owner signs and the bookkeeper knows the debit calendar. A sound next step is a joint review with the owner’s permission, not asking the manager to forward a private signature link.

Manager: “The owner is away. Can I sign for them?”

Question 5

A bakery can confirm an equipment reservation expires Friday. A broker cannot convert that into “the government program ends today.” Ask whether a deposit, rental or delayed delivery changes the financing need.

Owner: “I must act today. Should I skip reading?”

Question 6

A fictional diner wants funding to cover repeated operating losses with no change in pricing, costs or demand. Compare that with a profitable caterer waiting on an acknowledged invoice. Both need money, but the causes require different questions.

Owner: “Another advance will cover these payments; then we will borrow again.”

Question 7

“A revolving line may match recurring inventory needs, subject to availability and terms” is better than “unlimited cash whenever you want.” For a one-time machine, a term structure may be easier to evaluate than repeated short-cycle financing.

Owner: “What makes your option better?”

Question 8

“Certainly. Would a product overview or a side-by-side cost checklist help most? Would you prefer to contact me after reading, or schedule a review?” If the owner wants no follow-up, honor that preference.

Owner: “Just email it. Do not keep calling.”

Question 9

“Understood. Thank you for letting me know. I will note your preference.” Compare “Before you go, this is your last chance,” which manufactures urgency and ignores the refusal.

Owner: “Not interested. Remove me from your calls.”

Question 10

“You want to replace the oven, cannot disrupt payroll, and need to compare equipment financing with other options. Is that accurate? If you want, we can request the provider’s document checklist before any application.”

Owner: “Sending statements means I am approved, right?”
